There’s a running gag at work that the largest part of our job description is the very last line: “… and other duties as assigned.” Today, for example, Nate and I got designated as backup after-hours contacts for Siebel Center. I doubt we would ever get called (Chuck and Rick are the primaries,) but we’re on the list. The funny part is most events that would need an afterhours contact would be things we couldn’t control anyway: elock — we don’t admin that system. Doors locked? We don’t have keys if elock doesn’t work. Pipe burst? Not a plumber. HVAC going nuts making a machine room 99 degrees — we don’t control the thermostats. Granted, we can shut down machines and do our IT jobs, but I imagine most building things like this wouldn’t be anything we could do anything more than say, “Yup, the floor is flooded.”

Seen that once under raised flooing, was kinda scary to see water flowing towards 220v outlets.
