Libraries seem to have gone full circle from banning food and socializing and gaming/ruckus in their libraries, to cohabitating with coffee shops, reconfiguring for group collaboration areas, and now including gaming (card, board and video) into their collections. The UIUC Library gets its game on with a new program for games in the undergrad. That’s right, the media lab now includes XBox, Playstation and Game Cube. They even have Guitar Hero, which I bet is a big hit.
If only they had Katmari Damacy, I’d probably check it out. I’m also looking for a good Gamecube baseball game.
Overheard at the Mizzou game

I just re-found a voice memo I left on my phone during last winter’s Braggin Rights game. If I sound a little drunk, it’s because I was. The Mizzou fan was really funny, and really drunk, and taking forever to piss, which pissed all of us off.
Flash drive recovery?

Here’s one I haven’t been asked before. A student’s (flash|USB|jump|key|thumb)-drive died and she’d like to get the data off of it. She says she’s tried it on multiple computers and none of them recognize it when it’s plugged in. The LED on the fob never lights up.
Anyone know of any recovery tools or services for flash drives? Our hunch is that the data part of the drive is still okay, but something in the power or systems board is broken. Short of finding a duplicate drive and attempting to un/re/solder it, any other ideas?
