New RFCs! From the news.software.nntp group:

The IETF NNTPEXT working group has at long last produced the following standards-track RFCs for NNTP:

www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc3977.txt BASE
www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc4642.txt TLS
www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc4643.txt AUTHINFO
www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc4644.txt STREAMING

These are the successors to RFCs 977 and 2980, and should be of substantial interest to any programmers working on NNTP clients or servers.

Better linkage is rfc3977, rfc4642, rfc4643, and rfc4644. In true RFC form, I don’t know if anything here is necessarily new or not already being done by many NNTP implementations, but if those were there as a proof of concept, the RFCs make it the standard.
