Black Donnelly’s

General August 5th, 2007

If you watched NBC’s Black Donnelly’s this spring, and liked it even though the ratings and NBC didn’t (and then yanked it off the air after just 7 episodes,) you might be interested in some updates. I saw a commercial for the show “with never before aired episodes” on HDNet, and it made me do some research.

There are 6 episodes which NBC didn’t broadcast, but you can watch from their website. I didn’t know those were out there.

In June, HDNet picked up the rights to air the whole series, which brings it up to about now where the new episodes start. Set your HD Tivo’s if you’ve got them, or

Wait until September 4th to Netflix/buy the whole series on DVD. It’s Saved at the bottom of my queue.

Here’s hoping for good Monday night NBC shows in the fall…. It’s, uh, been a while.

The entire series is also available for purchase on iTunes.. that is if you can’t wait for the DVD! If you do a google search for The Black Donnellys DVD, you’ll see that it is also available for pre-order on Amazon.com, Walmart.com, Bestbuy.com and any electronic online store. I saw the entire season on NBC.com and downloaded some episodes from iTunes to show my support for the series. It’s definitely worth watching through the finale. It’s definitely a cliff hanger!

We actually jump-started the Save The Black Donnellys campaign. You can read about it here: http://www.savetheblackdonnellys.net

For anyone who has HDNet, you must check out The Black Donnellys on Wednesday nights. The show is even better in high-definition! Also, please join in the campaign for season 2…we have to find out what happened to the Donnelly brothers.

It’s wonderful that HDNet has given The Black Donnellys a second chance to gain new fans by airing all the previously un-aired episodes on HDNet. They are actually promoting it and seem to be doing a fabulous job of it too. Thanks for your comments because every new comment about this too-good-to-be-cancelled series pushes us closer to a season 2!

HDNet has given this incredible series some additional exposure and they actively promote the show, which NBC didn’t do. Fans of the show can visit thefirecrackerlounge.com and savetheblackdonnellys.net for information on what other fans are doing to save the show.

I loved this show more than any I’ve watched in a long time. It was very artful and entertaining but also engaging in an intellectual and emotional way. This is a show you can watch quite a few times and not get bored with it, like a good movie.

I am still hoping for a season two.
    Thx for the blog!
Depressing though that people still don’t know about this show.
