Cell phone design flaw
General August 9th, 2007
I went to plug in my cell phone (Sanyo SCP-8400) to the laptop with its USB cable today, but when I put the phone in USB mode it told it didn’t have enough battery for that operation. Only one bar left. Okay, but I’m plugging it into a powered USB jack. Couldn’t it pull it’s charge from there?
Okay, no big deal, I’m tethered anyway, I’ll get out the power adapter and plug them both in. No go. The USB cable at the bottom of the phone doesn’t give enough clearance to also plug the power in at the same time.
Seems like that could have been thought out better.

Time to get out the pocket knife and shave down the plug on the phone side. But yeah, it really should be able to get its power from the USB port.
