It got sprung
General April 2nd, 2008
So Spring is finally here. How can I tell?
* Light when I wake up, and still light for a few hours when I get home from work. I like that. W., I might make fun of you for lots of stupid management, but I think this new DST thing is almost worth the PITA it cause to change.
* Although it’s still mostly cool, we had some days above 60 degrees. And that means now white people can put away their winter clothes and wear shorts and windbreakers even if it’s currently 33 degrees out. White people love switching wardrobes weeks ahead of time.
* I did my first little bit of yard work today; raking and bagging some leaves that have been slowly rotting on my driveway/stoop. Spring is fun because there’s so much growth, and every little bit of work looks so good when it’s done. (FYI, if your house is near mine, the CU free yard pickup is 4/17 and 5/2.) Unfortunately, I have a lot more work to do. MC, lawnmowers, soon.
* School is winding up. April is the end of class (because reading day is 5/1, and I don’t have finals.) So this is the last month. The neat part is I’m not nervous. I’m not scared or stressed. I can see the end, plan out what I need to do, and execute it. This is a big change from how I felt in February. I have this serene calmness about it, almost like a closing pitcher competing for a save or a win.
* Oh, and baseball’s back. Expect more similes to the world’s greatest past-time in the near future. I’ve really enjoyed watching FSNMWHD the last two nights; hearing the cool, calm cadence of baseball commentary and seeing the games in HD. I know channel 929 is going away in Comcast’s new lineup at the end of the month — I hope they find some other way to get me Cards baseball in HD.
Those are my reasons. How can you tell spring is here?
