Commencement speaker

The 2008 Commencement speaker for the 137th commencement at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign will be Mannie Jackson, Owner, Harlem Globetrotters and UIUC alumnus. I was waiting to see who the speakers was to decide if I should go the main commencement ceremony or not (GSLIS does their own afterwards.) I think I will.
Mannie Jackson doesn’t have a wikipedia page, but apparently he’s from Edwardsville, IL along with Ed Hightower. Small world.
Oddly enough, I can remember who did the 2000 (Paul Simon) and 2002 (Maya Angelou) commencement speaking, but I don’t remember who spoke in 2001. And I can’t find that online. But I know where in the stacks the commencement programs are kept, so I can look it up. Maybe that needs a wikipedia page. (BTW, Tom Siebel spoke in 2006 and Jawed Kim spoke in 2007, so CS has been well represented lately.)
